Learning Objectives: Copy in Planner

  2. Copy learning objectives and homework in your planner.

  1. Reading Section: 3/22/10Scan for Vocabulary "Before the End of Summer" p. 24-37 (30 words)- Make a list of words that you do not know and define or translate them. (25 minutes to finish)
  2. Writing Section: 3/22/10 Reading Focus "Before the End of Summer" p. 24- In at least 3 sentences, respond to the "Reading Focus" prompt. Share with a partner.
  3. Reading Section: 3/23/10 Building Background Cornell Notes p. 24- Before you begin reading "Before the End of summer", take Cornell Notes as you read the Building Background section to learn about the early 1900's and about the author, Grant Moses, Jr. Look at the following picutres and add 3 new notes about the early 1900's: WardAbrahams_92_lg.jpg

2. Reading Section: 3/22/10 Summary Sentences "Before the End of Summer" p. 26-27- In groups of four or less, begin reading the story; stop after every two paragraphs to write a summary sentence about what you read.
3. Reading Section:
3/22/10 Literary Analysis Reading Log Notes- Stop after each page of the reading to take notes and practice reading strategies. Follow the instructions to fill out your log.
