1. 3/10/11 Bell Ringer Journal
  • In Google Docs, Click on "3/10/11 Bell Ringer Journal"
  • From there, click on the drop down menu and click "Create New" and "Document"
  • Give your document the appropriate heading in the upper left corner (I know before I said align-right, I was wrong):
    • Your Name
    • Course title (English 1C)
    • The teacher's name
    • Today's date
  • And MOST IMPORTANTLY, give your document the appropriate title: "Last Name First Name Assignment Name"
    • Prompt:
      • Finish these sentences, you have 6 minutes:
      • Adjectives are words that...

  • Pair-share responses.

2. 3/10/11 Instructions for Washing Laundry
  • You have read "The Washwoman" on page 25.
  • Now, you will create instructions in which you explain the steps that describe the Washwoman's job.
  • Before you create your instructions (in Google Docs), you will keep Cornell Notes (take notes on each section--follow instructions in class) and read:
  • This site offers descriptions of how people used to do laundry.
  • You will spend a lot of time reading/translating this site and viewing the pictures that are linked in the site.
  • I want you to be able to describe how the Washwoman probably did laundry. When you write your instructions, number the steps. lso, don't copy and paste, use your own words!
    • Step 1: The Washwoman needs to walk around her village to collect laundry from her customers.
