Today's Agenda:

1. Works Cited Page
  • Your essay will need a Works Cited Page.
  • Your Works Cited Page will be brief, because we only have one source (unless you also mention the YouTube video we watched).
  • When you give a direct quotation, be sure to cite the author and page number you are quoting.
  • Citing Works from Anthologies (OWL) (scroll down, about half-way down the page)

2. Your time to complete your essay.

  • You have analyzed the prompt.
  • We discussed your writing plan on Tuesday.
  • Now you are getting extra time to write.
    • Tips:
      • Use your reading pyramids. If you did these well, the quotations and summaries will be very valuable when writing your essay..
      • Use your analysis of the prompt.
      • Review the personal/peer evaluations shown below.

3. If time is available, students can use these questions to help them evaluate their writing.
  • Questions for personal/peer evaluation of your writing:
    • Did you include background information in your introduction?
    • What is your thesis statement?
    • What did you write about in your first body paragraph?
      • What quotation did you use as your evidence?
    • What did you write about in your second body paragraph?
      • What quotation did you use as your evidence?
    • What did you write about in your third body paragraph?
      • What quotation did you use as your evidence?
    • What did you put in your conclusion?
