1. 3/15/11 Bell Ringer Journal
  • In Google Docs, Click on "3/15/11 Bell Ringer Journal"
  • From there, click on the drop down menu and click "Create New" and "Document"
  • Give your document the appropriate heading in the upper left corner:
    • Your Name
    • Course title (English 1C)
    • The teacher's name
    • Today's date
  • And MOST IMPORTANTLY, give your document the appropriate title: "Last Name First Name Assignment Name"
    • Prompt (at least 100 words):
      • Many people write in a diary or a journal to reflect on things that happen in their life. Why do people use writing to reflect on events? What is the point of writing down what happened in your own life? Use examples of people who keep a diary or a journal if you know of someone who does this.
  • Pair-share responses.

2. 3/15/11 Cornell Notes on Voice and Purpose
  • In your notebook, write these questions on the left side of your Cornell Notes:
    • What is voice?
    • What elements serve to make up "voice"? Describe each one.
    • What is autobiographical writing?
    • What is an author's purpose?
  • Read page 47 from your Reader's Notebook and answer your questions.
  • Complete the summary at home.
